Hey Casey,
Sorry for the confusion! The intention is for you to click "hide" when
you're done reading an article. There's a dropdown in the toolbar above the
article list which defaults to "Don't show hidden items", but you can change
it to "Show hidden items" or "Show hidden items if starred", in case you
want to see something you've hidden. There's currently no way to unhide
articles but there is a
ticket<http://trac.openplans.org/melkjug/ticket/323>in for it. The
about
page <http://melkjug.org/about> gives some direction about the hide button:
Hiding articles
If you're done reading an article, or just want to get rid of it, hit
the [image:
hide] button to get it out of the way. Unless you ask, you won't see it
again when reading anywhere on the site. New articles are loaded as you hide
things you've read.
But the interaction design around reading, hiding, and starring etc. could
probably still use some work.
Thanks for the feedback :)

The thing that's confusing me is that I don't know if I should be
clicking "hide" when I've read a port or just scrolling past it.
